Losing weight - the formula for the calorie deficit
Let's start at the beginning. Contrary to popular belief, losing weight is actually quite easy. This is mainly because the body works like a machine. Your body needs calories to survive and function optimally. When you consume fewer calories than you burn during the day, your body starts burning fat to gain calories. This causes you to lose weight. If you want to lose weight, you need to figure out how many calories your body needs daily to maintain your current weight. To do this, take your current weight in pounds (450 grams) and multiply it by 13 (if you don't exercise at all), 15 (if you exercise a few times a week), or 18 (if you exercise five or more days a week). The remaining number indicates how many calories you currently need to maintain that level. Next, you need to reduce your daily calorie intake by a number between 500 and 1,000 calories. You can do this in three different ways.- You can eat 500 to 1,000 fewer calories each day.
- You can burn 500 to 1,000 calories each day through exercise.
- You can choose a combination of both, for example, burn 300 calories through exercise and eat 300 calories less
